Prospective counsellors must get acquainted with the professional methodology of counseling. This course will cover basic theories and skills for counseling: The role and attitude of the professional counsellor; skills for relationship building with counsellees; counseling techniques.

This course aims to understand theoretical knowledge of each counseling theory and looks into the counseling process. It helps students to foster abilities to deal with practical problems in the counseling process.

Counselors must respect human dignity and value. This course will focus on the ethical standards and doctrines of counseling, and help students put them into practice.

Students will familiarize themselves with theories and various approaches to career counseling for adolescents; types and administration of self-assessment tests that are used for career exploration.

This course will focus on deep understanding of behavioral theories of counseling that have been used in the field, in order for students to improve abilities to apply the theories to actual practice.

This course will cover various issues related to exceptional children. Students will learn personality traits and behaviors of exceptional children (i.e., children with mental retardation, learning disabilities, mental and behavioral disorders, communication disorders, and savant syndrome) and also of their parents and other family members. The related policy issues will also be discussed.

Since parent-child relationship significantly impacts a child’s mental, physical, social, and emotional health, parent counseling is a crucial part of child therapy programs. This course will familiarize students with essential skills for parent counseling.

This course will cover fundamental theories and methods of theraplay, with special attention to the attachment theory. Students will be expected to understand the process of promoting child-parent reattachment and to learn to apply the theory to actual practice.

This course will explore current theory and research trends in counseling. Students will be encouraged to actively participate in presentations and discussions on topics of interest to them, and be able to expand and deepen their knowledge on child counseling.

The purpose of this course is to train students in interviewing skills, on the basis of theoretical knowledge in counseling. Practicum settings provide an opportunity for supervised practice in counseling, in which students can develop good attitudes and interviewing techniques that help them to become effective counsellors.

Students will be guided through theoretical assumptions, test development process, test administration, purpose of each test, and communication of results. This course will present a comparative analysis of domestic and foreign policy issues in an attempt to seek for policy suggestions to possibly improve child welfare.

For a well-balanced understanding of human behavior, it will inquire into related theories, important theories and concepts explaining psychology and social environments, and the interaction between those environments.

In recent years, children and adolescents have become more and more vulnerable to TV·smartphone·internet·gaming addiction problems. This course will concentrate on liability and addictive behaviors of TV·smartphone·internet·gaming addicts. Therapeutic methods will be considered through case studies of addiction treatment.

Art therapy has been used as a part of therapy programs for years and is a proven and effective therapy for children. This course is designed to teach how to incorporate a variety of art modalities (i.e., music, painting, dance/movement, play, etc.) into child therapy programs.

It aims to understand the principles and process of cognitive therapy. It will inquire into the roles of therapists to deal with children who show problematic behaviors in various circumstances from simple situations to challenging clinical conditions.

This is the first part of a series of independent research course in which students start to conduct their thesis projects. Students are required to execute the initial steps in preparation of writing thesis: To choose the original research topic; to explore theoretical backgrounds related to the topic; to write a research proposal.

This course will adopt psychological and biological approaches toward exploring reasons and processes of various psychopathological phenomena: Emotional disorder (e.g., anxiety and depression), personality disorder and eating disorder. Major issues in psychopathology will also be discussed.

It aims to understand race, gender, female, disabilities, immigration, and North Korean defectors from multi-cultural counseling perspective, looking into the results of recent studies. Based on the data, it will discuss about professional counseling methodologies and strategies.

It aims to understand counseling psychology studies and main themes. It will analyze various modern phenomena from counseling psychological point of view, presenting solutions.

This course is aimed to provide students with the opportunity to attend a group supervision as a supervisee. A supervisee will obtain feedback from professionals and colleagues on a personal counseling case in various aspects: Attitudes as a counsellor, overall counseling process, and the choice and the interpretation of psychological tests. Students will be able to improve professional competence by reflecting on their own work.

It aims to promote understanding of the practical counseling process, practicing how to maintain, analyze, and evaluate counseling cases. Case analyses covers defining problems, establishing goals, selecting and applying intervention, evaluating counseling effect, and operating closing process.

Based on general knowledge about the psychological test, it will develop and evaluate actual tests with principles and methods to develop such tests.

This course will cover the emergence of developmental psychopathology, basic family, developmental perspective, existing approaches to psychopathology, developmental psychopathological approaches to disabilities, and mediation in developmental psychopathology. It will also study about researches and diagnosis, treatments for various mental illnesses that can occur at each developmental age.

This course will inquire into ways to integrate various types of expressive art ― motion, rhythm, and fine arts ― activities into psychotherapy to maximize the effect. Therapy process will be observed, directed, and supervised.

This is the second part of a series of independent research course in which students conduct and complete their thesis projects. Students must select the appropriate method, conduct their research as planned, and write a thesis.

This course will outline theories of counseling, counseling researches, and counseling psychology in regard to children·adolescents. Students will examine, analyze, and discuss about the basis of analyzing counseling effect, designing the analysis of counseling effect, various strategies and meta-analysis, variables of counselor and counselee, process of counseling and psychotherapy, and relationship between the effects in detail.

This course will focus on the theories of playtherapy, looking into the latest research trend. It will help students to improve recognition and understanding about playtherapy through presentation and discussion.

This course will help students to foster counseling abilities by understanding the basic psychological process ― trauma making a person grow up, examining research results showing how people who overcame the crisis experienced mental growth, and learning methodologies and techniques to counsel such counselees.

This course will focus on quantitative methods with special reference to research in Child Psychotherapy Counseling. Students will examine various quantitative methods, analyze advantages and disadvantages of each method, and also design and carry out quantitative studies.

The sandplay therapy is a traditional method used to treat maladjusted behavior in childhood. This course will provides an introduction to the value of sandplay that enables children to activate an unconscious healing process while they are playing with sand and various symbolic figures in a sand tray. Students will also be trained to supervise a sandplay process through case studies and practice.

Students will learn various and effective principles and techniques of art therapy to treat problems and symptoms of children·adolescents, accompanying with clinical practices.

Child counseling/therapy requires profound understanding of child development. In recent years, with the growth of science and technology, research in developmental psychology has expanded its boundaries especially towards neurodevelopment. This course will cover important developmental theories to deeply understand the actual process of development, take a look at recent findings, and grasp current directions in developmental psychology.

This course will educate students to be able to efficiently perform the role of professional counselor to direct and consult counseling and coaching. They will also be able to consult about how to draw understandings and solutions.

It aims to understand research themes and results of positive psychology, which focuses on individual strength and happiness, rather than individual weakness and disease. Students will be able to apply it to practical counseling.

Projective test will evaluate non-cognitive internal process and contents of thinking, emotional states, desires, impulse, conflict, defense, and characteristic features of testees, analyzing individual reactions to obscure examination stimulation. It will help students understand various projective tests and put them into practice.

This course will inquire into the relationship between the nervous system with the brain as its center and psychological functions based on language and cognition, reviewing fast-growing brain researches. It will also study the effect of brain damage on behavior and the mind.
